Youth Advocating for the Environment
Whether you're following along closely with the 2024 United Nations Biodiversity Conference (CBD COP16),
or engaging with the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), we want to know what you care about.
Our partners at the Centre for Global Education are attending COP, with a cohort of #DECARBONIZE youth. Whether you are one of the attendees, or are learning and engaging with the process from home, we encourage you to share your call-to-action, learning, or experience in the form below to create your own eCard.

What are eCards?
eCards are digital messages! We post these on our website and email them to decision makers, on behalf of youth.
eCard content represents student work. It shares their opinions, perspectives, and reflects the research they conducted when it was created. We hope these eCards encourage action and reflection about environmental issues.
Want to see what other youth have already done? Check out our eCards Gallery Wall here.

What can I write about?
Our partners at the Centre for Global Education are attending COP, with a cohort of #DECARBONIZE youth. In preparation, a Global Child Climate Manifesto has been developed, with the following pressing topics identified by youth. We encourage you to use these to inspire your work!
We encourage youth to share messages, images, and art that reflects their thoughts, understanding, and experience in relation to the topics and decisions relevant to COP.
We value and respect student voices at GreenLearning. The views of these eCards are not the opinions of GreenLearning or its affiliates.
- Government Policy: We urge governments to join the Global Plan of Action for Biodiversity Education and commit to strong environmental education in their National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) ensuring a legal right for all children everywhere to receive high-quality environmental education.
- School Curriculum: We call for a transformation in education that prioritizes hands-on experiences that connect us to nature.
- Indigenous Knowledge: We advocate for the combination of scientific knowledge and traditional Indigenous wisdom to create more effective ways of protecting our environment and ensuring thriving global biodiversity for the future.
- Community Engagement: We call for community collaboration that allows the sharing of knowledge and resources to make a greater impact on conservation.
- Funding Solutions: We advocate for tangible actions that will ensure funding for biodiversity education within our schools and community centers, particularly in underserved communities.
- Awareness Campaigns: We recognize the necessity of leveraging advocacy and awareness campaigns to engage in biodiversity discussions and to inspire environmental action.
We encourage youth to share messages, images, and art that reflects their thoughts, understanding, and experience in relation to the topics and decisions relevant to COP.

Who will get my eCard?
Before you submit your eCard, you'll have the opportunity to let us know if you're ok with us posting your eCard on our website gallery wall. Anyone that visits our website will be able to look at the posted eCards. We would love to share your eCard with the world, but it's ok if you want to keep it more private.
With the help of some wonderful CGE volunteer students, a list has been made of key decision makers. These are people that have the power to influence and impact policy, choices, and community progress dedicated to the urgent matters in focus at COP. We will reach out to these decision makers to show them the gallery wall of published work, and plan to share any responses we receive from them.
